Paying down the balance on your credit cards and loans

Did you know that if you make an extra payment on your credit card right after the normal payment is made 100% of that payment will go toward the principal? Yep. But don't wait too long, do it the very next day or even on the same day that your bill is due. Just make sure that the regular payment is made first. This is easy to do, if you pay your bills online at the card site, like I do. The same idea works on your car loans as well. Try it, before long you'll be paying down those balances like wild fire!

Back to School in Marshall County

http://www.tn.gov/revenue/salestaxholiday/graphics/logo_big.jpg
It's hard to believe that another Summer break is coming to an end. The first abbreviated day is scheduled for August 5 with the first full day being August 7. I remember when we were kids, we didn't go back to school until September, usually after Labor Day. Trapper Keepers and new Levi's were a must!
However, I don't remember ever having a list of stuff to buy for school, back then. These days, it's a requirement. Since when did sanitizing wipes, Kleenex, and Ziplock bags become school supplies? Oh well, I always try to get everything on the lists, even on the wish list part. I know the teachers need all the help they can get. If you are not sure what is on your child's list, click on the Marshall County Schools link on the right side of the blog page. Is it me, or does it seem like we did without so much when we were kids?
Anyway, we have a tax free weekend coming up, Aug 7 - 9, so get out there and do some shopping! Here is a link to the state site: http://www.tn.gov/revenue/salestaxholiday/
Make sure and check around, you may be able to get a better deal on school supplies at Kroger or Walgreens. Just don't assume that Wal-Mart has the best prices.. you might find better deals elsewhere.

Got Goat Milk?

Fresh Whole Goat Milk

Are you allergic to cow's milk? If you are, you may want to try goat's milk. Most people, unless they are of Northern European descent, are either lactose intolerant or allergic to cow's milk. Which explains why my husband, who has very strong Dutch genes, can drink milk by the gallons and it never bothers him. I on the other hand, am more of a heinz 57 mixture of German, Scottish, Irish, English, and Native American, and cannot tolerate cow's milk.
The only brand available here, where we live is Meyenberg www.meyenberg.com . It is sold at Wal-Mart in Lewisburg, and I have also bought it from Whole Foods in Franklin. www.wholefoodsmarket.com Although it's a bit pricey for milk, it is very good and worth it to me, as it keeps my gut happy. My husband doesn't like it though. He thinks it's musky or wild tasting....you know like vinison (deer meat) can be, if not properly prepared. He will not drink it with a goat, he will not drink it from a boat!
But, I like it. I think it tastes good. Especially when you start comparing it to soy milk or rice milk.. stuff that someone decided to label as "milk" that has no business as such. Yuk. I like it in my coffee, in my cereal and just by the glass. It's also good when mixed with other stuff...
So anyway, I made up a new drink yesterday.. I am calling it a "White Mexican".
In a tumbler mix the following:
4 to 6 oz Goat Milk
3 to 4 oz Kahlua
crushed ice.. Stir.
GUSTO GRANDE!

i-photo

For some reason, ever since I upgraded my mac to 10.4.11, i-photo will not see any of the new photos on my camera. It will see the camera, but says there are no photos available. I have looked online to see what other people are saying about it and there are plenty of people with the same problem.. but, I can't seem to find an across the board solution, or answer. If anyone out there has information that will help, let me know. It's very frustrating. I am thinking about buying a new camera.
